Rotting Your Brains

points out this week that email makes you stupid. I thank him for doing so. I suppose on some level we all knew it. Even though it involves "reading" and "writing" and other stuff we probably still associate with "nerds" and "poindexters," I think we all knew that the use of the smiley and the either overly casual or downright overzealous use of punctuation was affecting us all negatively. We do it anyways. The damage is an abstract, it's too hard to quantify. My girlfriend "only smokes when she drinks."

Anyhoo. The sheer tonage of emails and blogs that I read and write throughout the course of a day have rendered me a blithering idiot (see above paragraph), so I turn back to my old friend the television which, as ForgetFoo also points out, now makes you smart.
